Different bodies respond to different types of treatment, and I believe the right technique for any given person is whichever one makes them feel best. I often blend modalities in session, to suit a client’s specific needs. I am happy to take requests, if you know what kind of bodywork you want; if what you want is simply for me to “make it better,” I can do that. These are the modalities I use most:
Myofascial Release is a gentle form of bodywork that uses long, sustained holds to open up chronically constricted tissue. By working directly with the fascia (connective tissue in the most literal sense, fascia is what anchors every cell of your body to all the surrounding cells), MFR can use the lightest pressure to achieve the profoundest relaxation. Uses no lubrication.
Swedish Massage is what most people think of when they hear the word “massage.” With massage cream for lubrication, and using pressure that ranges from gentle to firm, Swedish Massage involves smooth, gliding strokes that boost circulation, ease muscle tension, and promote a full-body sense of bliss.
Deep Tissue Massage shares a methodology with Swedish Massage, but uses stronger pressure with anatomically precise aim in order to zero in on, and release, problematic soft tissue. Can be particularly effective in combination with Myofascial Release.
